Roofing advice
Preparing your roof for storms
What to check before winter weather and what to do safely afterwards.
Before the storm
Arrange for any loose tiles, ridges or flashing to be repaired before the stormy season. Secure loose garden items that could be blown into the roof.
After the storm
Look for damage from the ground: missing tiles, debris on the roof, damaged gutters or a leaning chimney. Check the loft for water if it's safe to do so.
Stay safe
Never climb onto a roof or use a ladder in high winds or after a storm. Keep clear of loose debris and contact a professional to assess the damage.
Insurance
Take photographs of any visible damage and contact your insurer as early as possible.
